“Sure, ShangWei serves American-Chinese food to meet local expectations, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try ordering some offals. I rarely see a menu with such a wide selection of offals—chef’s clearly got a sweet spot for them. I ordered the pig blood and intestine. Blood sounds strange but it’s like tofu with a metallic taste and a more grippy texture (think oxalates in spinach). Intestines have to be cleaned really well. Here, some pieces had pronounced gaminess, but they were tempered by the highly fragrant sauce speckled with fermented black bean and chili.”

I highly recommend the wontons in chili oil. The prices are very fair and the service is quick. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.”
